Consider the following: If Alphabet's TPU-powered Vertex AI can process fraud detection, supply chain optimization, and high-frequency trading at a fraction of the cost of any public blockchain, why would enterprises migrate to decentralized alternatives? The answer is: they won't, unless regulation forces them. Crypto's value proposition is not computational efficiency — it is censorship resistance and trust minimization. But for 99% of commercial applications, Google's scale and reliability are sufficient. The market for truly trustless computation is small.

Furthermore, the capital diversion effect is real. Venture firms that would have funded layer-1 blockchains and DeFi protocols are now backing AI startups. The talent pool is shifting. The best engineers in the world are optimizing transformer models, not writing Solidity. This is not a temporary trend — it is a structural reallocation of human capital.

Crypto's only defense is to find niches where centralized solutions are structurally inadequate. Privacy, permissionless access, and global settlement are those niches. But the idea that AI investment will lift all boats is a dangerous oversimplification. In fact, the next bear market in crypto may be triggered not by regulatory action, but by a liquidity squeeze as corporate bonds soak up risk appetite.

Takeaway: Positioning for the Compute Cycle

Macro moves in bytes. The current cycle is not about retail adoption or institutional ETF approvals — it is about the cost and availability of compute. The vault is digital now, and it is controlled by the hyperscalers.
